At what is normally a 2-day conference, I only managed to come up on the Saturday. For me, NATECLA events are a step outside of the ELT world with which I am more familiar, but it always a great opportunity to include ESOL teachers in using songs and lyrics in the classroom!
The morning started off with an exceptional keynote speech from Dr Kate Brierton Compassionate Cambridge who somehow knew exactly what was in my mind (or so it seemed) and I felt it was the perfect start to the day. It’s been a tough year and listening to her speak seemed to validate the things I was feeling. So that was a definite bonus!
And with the pep talk and feel good, I was ready to immerse some conference attendees with good vibrations! I think those who attended would agree that it was quite an experience with good music, ideas flowing and karaoke singing. I was told afterward that it was ‘energising’ and ‘one of the best’ so far!
